NAMEN Community of Practice
Mobilizing Men and Boys:

Session 3

NAMEN is honored to announce the third in a series of web conferences towards building a Community of Practice.

February 16, 2016; 3:00 - 4:30 pm, EST

Web Conference Topic

"Holding our Ground, What to expect in the new US Administration?"

We conducted a dialog on: What impact do we expect on our work, is there a benefit hidden in the obvious costs?    US President Donald Trump is the ultimate hegemonic patriarch, where vulgar locker room talk is celebrated, men grabbing women without permission is sport and being a bully is proud tradition.  What does this mean for our work engaging men and boys for healthy masculinity?

Presenters
This was a panel presentation and audience dialog.

Panelist included:

  • Aaron Eckhardt – Director Ohio Mens Action Network, and National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs – Promoting LGBTQI Safety

  • Pheng Thao – with ManForward: End the Silence & End the Permission

  • Rus Funk, Consultant, Author “Men Stopping Rape”

  • Tonya Lovelace-Davis, CEO Women of Color Network

Recording is not available:

This session purposely was not recorded. We needed an session where participants felt entirely free to speak their minds.  And we were successful at this!
